Moments to Memories began with a very personal loss and a simple thought: I wish I had taken more pictures with my daddy.
After losing him, I realized how often we tell ourselves there will be another birthday, another visit, another holiday — another chance to take the picture. Sometimes there isn’t.
So I created Moments to Memories in his honor and invited families to come exactly as they were. No need for matching outfits or perfect circumstances. Just come. Sit together. Hug each other. Laugh. Hold hands. And let me preserve what your family looks like right now.
What happened that day became more than I ever imagined. I watched grown children lean into their parents. I photographed grandparents, grandchildren, siblings, couples and generations together. There was laughter, tenderness, silliness and more than a few tears — including mine.
As I edited these photographs, I laughed again. I cried again. And frame after frame reminded me why I created this event in the first place.
Someday, an ordinary photograph can become one of the most extraordinary things you own.
Take the picture. Get in the picture.
Moments to Memories will return, because there are more memories waiting to be made.
